Qatar Confirms Gulf Coordination To Support Yemenis And Reduce Escalation

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari announced on Tuesday that Qatar is ready to support Saudi Arabia’s efforts to host a Yemeni dialogue conference aimed at resolving the Southern Issue.

Speaking at a press conference, Al-Ansari said there is ongoing coordination among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states to support the Yemeni people and to reach a comprehensive settlement designed to reduce escalation and enhance stability.

This announcement comes as Riyadh prepares to host an inclusive Southern conference that will bring together various southern components around the dialogue table to discuss what concerned parties have described as “fair solutions to the Southern Issue.”

In the same context, the governorates of Hadramawt and Al-Mahra have seen relative calm following clashes between Southern Transitional Council (STC) forces and government forces backed by the Saudi-led coalition, which resulted in government forces regaining control of the two governorates.
