Yemeni President Warns the “STC” Against Circumventing Recent Sovereign Decisions

Yemen Monitor – Newsroom:

Yemeni President Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, warned against any attempts to circumvent the recent sovereign decisions or obstruct the requirements for their implementation on the ground. He stressed that the state is moving forward with enforcing its decisions in a manner that preserves its sovereignty, protects its citizens, and prevents the imposition of any fait accompli by force of arms.

He explained that the sovereign decisions recently taken by the Presidential Leadership Council came as a necessary and responsible choice aimed at restoring the path to peace, protecting civilians, safeguarding the legal standing of the state, and avoiding the country’s slide into a new cycle of violence. This followed deliberate obstruction of consensus-based pathways and deviation from the references of the transitional phase, foremost among them the Declaration of Transfer of Power and the Riyadh Agreement.

This came during an expanded meeting held by President Al-Alimi with the Advisory Board, as part of his ongoing consultations with state authorities and decision-making and support circles. He affirmed that these decisions do not reflect a desire for escalation or retaliation, but rather represent a legal and moral response to the state’s duty to protect its citizens and preserve its unity and institutions.

The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council briefed the Advisory Board on recent developments, explaining that the repeated grace periods granted to normalize conditions in the eastern governorates were not used wisely by the STC. Instead, they were accompanied by the deployment of additional forces to the governorates of Hadramowt and Al-Mahra, and the arrival of military shipments from external sources. This compelled the state to take firm measures, in coordination with brothers in the leadership of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, to prevent the escalation of the crisis and its transformation into a reality difficult to contain.

The Yemeni president praised the efforts of the local authorities in the eastern governorates and their swift response to the presidential decisions, particularly in securing sovereign facilities and vital infrastructure and ensuring the continuity of services provided to citizens. He renewed his warning against any attempts to circumvent these decisions or obstruct their implementation.

He emphasized the importance of the role that the Advisory Board can play at this critical stage, as an advanced think tank to support and rationalize national decision-making, mobilize national energies in support of the battle to restore state institutions, and cut off sources of support for any formations operating outside the legal framework of the state.

President Al-Alimi reaffirmed the justness of the Southern Cause and the collective commitment to addressing it in accordance with the highest human rights standards, away from the logic of force and coercion, or exploiting it in armed conflicts that undermine its legitimacy and harm its future.

He also expressed his deep appreciation for the fraternal role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as Yemen’s strategic partner, embodied by the realities of geography, shared destiny, and common security interests. He stressed that protecting this partnership is a national responsibility, given the historic and future gains it carries, and the serious risks that would result from undermining it.

The president clarified that the decision to end the Emirati military presence came within the framework of correcting the course of the coalition, and in coordination with its joint leadership, in a manner that ensures the cessation of any support to components operating outside the authority of the state. He affirmed that this decision does not mean severing ties, denying bilateral relations, or disregarding the legacy of cooperation based on shared interests between the two brotherly countries.

The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council stressed that the unifying objective of any sovereign measure or decision at this stage will remain serving the battle to restore state institutions—peacefully or by force—and fulfilling Yemenis’ aspirations for security, stability, and development.

He called on all political components and media platforms to avoid rhetoric of abuse and incitement, and to prioritize the language of the state and responsibility, in a way that strengthens national unity, preserves the dignity of Yemenis, and safeguards opportunities for peace, without compromising the principle of accountability and the rule of law.
