Yemeni Foreign Ministry Welcomes UN Security Council Statement on State’s Unity

The Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs welcomed the statement issued by the UN Security Council concerning Yemen, affirming its support for the efforts of the UN Special Envoy.

The Ministry expressed its appreciation for the Council’s emphasis on the necessity of de-escalation in the country, considering that any further escalation harms Yemen’s interests.

The Security Council reiterated its affirmation of Yemen’s unity, security, stability, and territorial integrity, expressing its support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the internationally recognized Yemeni government.

The statement called for enhancing the political track as a crucial step towards achieving comprehensive peace that ends the suffering of the Yemeni people.

The Yemeni Foreign Ministry condemned the continued detention by the Houthi group of United Nations staff, international and local organization employees, and diplomatic mission personnel, considering this a blatant violation of international law.

The Ministry called on the international community to exert pressure on the Houthis for the immediate and unconditional release of the detainees.

The Ministry reaffirmed the Yemeni government’s commitment to cooperating with the United Nations and the international community to end the crisis and achieve security and stability in Yemen and the region.
