Marib Security Announces Arrest of Houthi Cell Leader Specialized in Manufacturing IEDs
Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
Security services in Marib Governorate announced the arrest of the leader of a terrorist cell linked to the Houthi group. The operation, described as a “qualitative and preemptive” strike, aimed to neutralize serious threats to the security and stability of the governorate.
A source in the Marib Police stated that the operation resulted in the capture of a Houthi commander who led terrorist cells specialized in manufacturing and planting Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). The suspect was reportedly tasked with targeting civilian and military figures, as well as vital sites within the governorate.
The source explained that the accused took over the management of these cells under direct orders from the Houthi group, succeeding Ahmed Qatran, who was previously arrested by security services and featured in a documentary released by Marib Police last month.
Details of the arrest revealed that the operation was executed with high professionalism and coordination between specialized security branches. The suspect was apprehended inside a hideout used as a workshop for manufacturing explosives. A number of camouflaged IEDs were seized at the scene, along with devices and materials used for detonation operations.
The source emphasized that this achievement is part of a series of security successes in the governorate resulting from constant vigilance and high readiness. He noted that the suspect has been referred for interrogation, and legal proceedings will be completed to refer him to the competent judicial authorities once investigations conclude.
