Wadi Hadramowt Authorities: 109 Killed and Wounded in Military Clashes; Damage Assessment Ongoing

Yemen Monitor | Newsroom:
The local authority in Wadi Hadramowt (eastern Yemen) revealed on Monday the human losses and material damage resulting from recent military clashes, without referring to the STC forces that caused the events after storming the valley’s cities on December 3.
In a statement, the authority said the clashes resulted in the deaths of 35 soldiers and injuries to 67 others, in addition to seven wounded civilians. No civilian fatalities were recorded.
It added that the General Administration of Valley Security headquarters sustained significant damage, and that a near-total disruption affected the operations of several public facilities. The authority noted that the process of assessing the outcomes and documenting human and material losses is still ongoing, attributing the delay in final results to the complexities of the situation on the ground.
The statement affirmed that service facilities continue to perform their duties despite the circumstances, foremost among them the security forces, which—following a redeployment—have been able to restore life to a minimum level of normalcy, while efforts continue to overcome the repercussions of the current phase.
The authority also confirmed that the security situation remains stable, with no major security breaches or cases of enforced disappearance recorded to date. It called on all military and security entities, as well as citizens, to maintain calm, rely on official sources for information, and submit reports and complaints to the relevant authorities.
The statement concluded by affirming that the local authority’s official website will continue to publish statements and periodic updates related to public affairs.
