Yemeni Army Accuses STC of Field Executions, Killing Wounded in Hadramowt, Reveals Bloody Toll
Yemen Monitor / Marib / Exclusive:
The General Staff Headquarters of the Yemeni Army has disclosed a bloody toll from the recent events in Hadramowt Governorate (eastern Yemen), announcing the killing and wounding of 77 officers and personnel of the First Military Region. The statement accused the Southern Transitional Council (STC) of committing war crimes, including killing wounded soldiers and executing detainees.
This marks the first official comment since forces affiliated with the STC took control of camps in the Valley and Desert areas.
The General Staff Headquarters mourned the “martyrs” of the First Military Region personnel who fell while performing their national and constitutional duty within the scope of Hadramowt’s Valley, Desert, and Plateau.
In a strongly worded statement, a copy of which was obtained by “Yemen Monitor,” the Headquarters clarified that the toll from what it described as “flagrant aggressions” reached 32 killed (martyrs) and 45 wounded, in addition to a number of missing persons whose fate has not yet been determined in the statement.
The General Staff Headquarters directed direct accusations at groups affiliated with the STC for carrying out these attacks without any legal or legitimate justification.
The statement pointed to gross violations of local and international laws and humanitarian values, asserting that the forces involved had “killed the wounded and executed detainees” after seizing the sites—a dangerous escalation, as described by the military.
The Yemeni Army considered the goal of these military movements to be “destabilizing the security and stability of Hadramowt Governorate, and threatening the stability of the liberated areas in general.” It further stated that attempting to impose a fait accompli by force of arms is a clear undermining of the ongoing political process and the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC).
In conclusion, the General Staff Headquarters stressed that these events will only increase the military institution’s determination and steadfastness. It affirmed the commitment of the armed forces to their constitutional duties in defending the nation and its unity, and to operating under the orders of the political and military leadership to restore the state and defeat the “terrorist Houthi group organization,” describing what occurred as futile attempts that will not deter the army from its core battle.
