Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Yemeni Olympic national team has exited the Gulf Cup football tournament after drawing 1-1 with their Omani counterpart in the match that brought them together this evening, marking the final round of Group B.
The Omani team scored the opening goal at the beginning of the second half in the 46th minute, before Yemeni player Faisal Al-Ma’roufi succeeded in equalizing for Yemen 17 minutes later.
Despite the point earned by the Yemeni team, it was not enough to secure qualification. Yemen finished their campaign in third place with 4 points, while Oman bid farewell to the tournament from the bottom spot with only one point. The teams that qualified from this group were Iraq and the UAE.
The Yemeni team had started the tournament positively with a valuable 2-1 victory over Iraq, but suffered a loss in the second round against the UAE, 3-1.
