Major General Sultan Al-Arada Returns to Marib Amid Escalating Confrontations in Hadramawt
Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
Member of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Major General Sultan Al-Arada, arrived in Marib province on Thursday. His return coincides with rapid field developments in the Hadramowt Valley and the expansion of clashes to the vicinity of the Arin camp located on the eastern border of Marib province.
Major General Al-Arada’s return follows a foreign tour during which he participated in a series of official visits and meetings focused on discussing the latest political and military developments in the country.
He was received upon his arrival in Marib by the Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Sagheer bin Aziz, along with a number of provincial deputies and senior military and security leaders.
His return coincides with escalating tensions in Hadramowt province, following the Southern Transitional Council (STC) forces’ takeover of the entire areas of the largest and oil-rich province in Yemen.
The influence of those forces has now extended to the borders of Marib and Shabwa by securing control over the Arin camp. This has raised concerns about an expansion of the confrontations and their approach to areas of relative stability in Marib.
