Saudi Delegation Affirms Hadramawt’s Demands for the Withdrawal of Military Forces Arriving from Outside the Governorate

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
A broad meeting held today in the city of Mukalla — bringing together Hadramawt’s local authorities, official leaders, and a Saudi delegation headed by Lt. Gen. Dr. Mohammed Obaid Al-Qahtani, chairman of the Saudi Special Committee on Yemen — affirmed the demand for the withdrawal of all military forces and security personnel who recently entered Hadramawt from outside the governorate.
At the start of the meeting, Hadramawt Governor Salem Al-Khanbashi welcomed the delegation, praising the Kingdom’s longstanding positions and continuous support for the governorate under all circumstances, describing Saudi Arabia as “the most influential state in the region.”
Al-Khanbashi said that the people of Hadramawt have full confidence in the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting the security of the governorate, which he stressed would remain a pillar of stability backed by its residents and the support of its brothers.
For his part, the Saudi delegation reaffirmed the Kingdom’s rejection of any developments that threaten Hadramawt’s security — foremost among them the deployment of military units or security forces arriving from outside the governorate. The delegation explained that the visit constitutes a concrete message of support for the local authorities to overcome the current challenges and advance efforts to reinforce security.
The delegation emphasized the Kingdom’s and the Arab Coalition’s keenness to prevent the situation from sliding into any trajectory that undermines Hadramawt’s security and stability, noting that the governorate’s safety is a top Saudi priority due to deep historical and strategic ties. It stressed that the main battle for all parties remains confronting the Houthi coup militia.
The meeting included members of parliament and the Shura Council, along with military and security leaders, and notable social and community figures.
The expanded session followed a separate meeting between the Saudi delegation and the governor, attended by the commander of the Second Military Region, Maj. Gen. Talib Bargash.
The Saudi visit comes after the Southern Transitional Council (STC) announced its control over Wadi Hadramawt and the expulsion of the First Military Region forces affiliated with the Yemeni army, following limited clashes early this morning.
Meanwhile, forces of the Hadramawt Tribes Alliance, led by Amr bin Habrish, continue to hold the oil fields and facilities in the Al-Masila area of the Hadramawt plateau, after the local authority announced tribal-mediated understandings with the alliance. STC forces, however, remain surrounding the Al-Masila region, where no clashes have been reported so far.
