Presidential Advisor: Disputes in Hadramout Managed with Wisdom, But External Military Intervention Threatens Its Stability

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
Engineer Badr Basalama, Advisor to the Head of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) for Local Administration Affairs, has warned of the dangers facing Hadramout governorate. He noted that internal disputes exist with Sheikh Omar bin Habrish over several issues related to Hadramout affairs, but stressed that these disputes are being managed with a spirit of wisdom and responsibility among the civil, military, and tribal elites in the governorate.
Basalama affirmed that the most appropriate path to achieving security and stability in Hadramout lies in enhancing the role of the local authority and effectively supporting it under the Governor’s leadership. He emphasized that this approach strengthens the governorate’s unity and spares it from much unrest.
He pointed out that the introduction of military forces from outside the governorate into Hadramout’s internal affairs poses a direct threat to its security stability. He considered this step to be unusual and believes it will not solve the problems but will instead broaden the scope of disturbance and cause sharp divisions within the Hadrami society.
Basalama concluded his statement by stressing that preserving the unity of Hadramout’s social fabric requires addressing problems internally and avoiding external interventions that could further complicate the security and political situation in the governorate.
