Yemen and Britain Enhance Coordination to Combat Smuggling and Security Challenges in the Red Sea

The Yemeni Coast Guard Authority discussed with a high-level British delegation in Aden ways to enhance joint security cooperation and protect international shipping lanes from increasing risks.

The Authority affirmed its keenness to expand areas of cooperation and partnership with the British side within the framework of joint efforts to combat smuggling and protect regional maritime security.

The Assistant Undersecretary for Sector Affairs at the Coast Guard Authority, Brigadier General Musa’ad Assa’ad, reviewed areas of training, capacity building, and the development of joint coordination mechanisms in operational and technical aspects. This is intended to contribute to raising maritime readiness and enhancing the capabilities of Coast Guard personnel to confront security challenges in regional waters.

At the conclusion of the visit, the British delegation, headed by the Military Attaché and the Naval Attaché at the British Embassy, conducted a field tour of several facilities of the Coast Guard Authority. The delegation praised the efforts made by the Authority to protect the Yemeni coasts and enhance security.
