UAE Presidential Advisor: The Solution in Yemen is Political, Not Military

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Anwar Gargash, Advisor to the UAE President, affirmed his country’s firm position in supporting international efforts aimed at ending the Yemeni crisis and pushing towards a comprehensive and sustainable political solution that ends the suffering of the Yemeni people and enhances regional stability.

This came during his meeting in Abu Dhabi with Hans Grundberg, the UN Special Envoy for the Secretary-General to Yemen, where the two sides discussed the latest developments in the Yemeni file and the UN and regional efforts being made to achieve progress in the peace track.

Gargash emphasized that the UAE believes in dialogue and diplomatic means as a way to address regional issues, reiterating his country’s commitment to supporting the Yemeni people and alleviating their humanitarian suffering, in parallel with political efforts to achieve peace.

For his part, the UN Envoy reviewed the results of his recent consultations with Yemeni, regional, and international parties, confirming the continuation of his efforts to find common ground to pave the way for the resumption of the political process.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of Grundberg’s participation in the 12th session of the “Abu Dhabi Strategic Forum,” organized by the Emirates Policy Center with broad participation from decision-makers and international experts.

Abu Dhabi supports military formations in Yemen that are now under the internationally recognized authority and the Presidential Leadership Council, including the forces of the secessionist Transitional Council, and other forces led by Abu Zara’a Al-Muharrami, a member of the Presidential Council, and a third led by Tariq Saleh, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council.
