An official report revealed the arrest of 803 suspects in drug abuse and trafficking cases, and the seizure of one ton and 660 kilograms of hashish, heroin, and “Shabu” (methamphetamine), in addition to large quantities of Captagon pills and opium, during the period from January to September 2025.
The General Directorate for Drug Control at the Yemeni Ministry of Interior stated in its report that the total number of registered cases reached (411). The sources of the smuggled materials varied between Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, with a number of significant seizures carried out.
The report disclosed that security agencies in Al-Mahra governorate succeeded in seizing a complete factory for manufacturing Captagon and Shabu (methamphetamine). It also detailed the seizure of a 599 kg shipment of cocaine in Aden, which was hidden inside a sugar container coming from Brazil, in addition to seizing 646,290 Pregabalin pills inside a warehouse in the city.
The report also mentioned the seizure of 314 kg of Shabu, 25 kg of heroin, and 108 kg of hashish on the coast of Lahj, which were destined for Egypt. Furthermore, 432 kg of Shabu was seized in the Red Sea.
In the Bab al-Mandab area, a drug smuggling den was uncovered and 28,500 Pregabalin tablets were seized, along with a boat carrying 150,000 Captagon pills. An attempt to smuggle 13,750 Captagon tablets was also thwarted at the Al-Wadea border crossing.
The General Directorate for Drug Control noted that it seized a 12-meter boat loaded with one ton of narcotics, which included 536 packages of Shabu, 100 packages of hashish, and 10 packages of heroin. In another operation, a vessel was seized in the north of the Arabian Sea carrying 2,056 kilograms of Amphetamine (Shabu), and its crew, which included a number of Iranians and Pakistanis, was detained.
