147 Civilians Killed and Injured in Hudaidah by Houthi Mines During Eight Months

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms reported that landmines planted by the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Hudaidah governorate have killed 64 civilians and injured 83 others during the period from January to August 2025.

The report issued by the Network, titled “Mines Without Maps,” confirmed that these mines also caused damage to 68 private vehicles.

The report stressed that the Houthis randomly planted mines in sensitive civilian locations, including public and private facilities, homes, markets, streets, and farms, without regard for distinguishing between civilian and military targets, which led to casualties among women and children.

The Network called on the international community and the United Nations to assume their responsibilities and pressure the Houthi militias to hand over the maps of the planted mines, while condemning the crimes and violations committed against civilians.

The Network affirmed that these actions represent a flagrant violation of international laws and a continuous threat to the lives of civilians in Hudaidah.

According to the Network’s sources, the continued presence of these mines hinders reconstruction efforts and increases the suffering of the local population, emphasizing the urgent need for action to dismantle them and ensure security and peace in the governorate.
