International Meeting in Riyadh Discusses Support for Development in Yemen

The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) held an important meeting of the Yemen Partners Group (YPG) at its headquarters in the capital, Riyadh, with the attendance of representatives from high-level countries and international organizations.

The meeting was attended by the Yemeni Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Waed Badeeb, along with the UN Resident Coordinator in Yemen, Julien Harneis, and the Ambassadors of the United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan to Yemen.

Attendees discussed ways to enhance cooperation and coordination among donor countries to support the development process in Yemen, with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia representing a key party in these efforts through its development program.

The Yemeni Minister expressed his appreciation for the Saudi support, represented by the development assistance package announced by the Kingdom valued at 1.3 billion riyals in September 2025, praising the continuous efforts for the recovery of the Yemeni economy.

For her part, the British Ambassador, Abda Sharif, affirmed the importance of Saudi initiatives in supporting Yemen, while commending the pivotal role of the Saudi Program in implementing development projects.

In turn, Eng. Hassan Al Attas, Assistant Supervisor General of the Program, pointed out the importance of international partnership in confronting development challenges, expressing the Program’s commitment to continue its support for the Yemeni people.

This meeting, which was held for the fourth time, is part of a series of gatherings aimed at enhancing international cooperation to achieve stability and prosperity in Yemen. The Program reviewed its achievements, which included 265 development projects in eight key sectors.
