Houthis Abduct 7 Young Men West of Marib Who Celebrated the September 26 Revolution Anniversary

Yemen Monitor/ Marib/ Exclusive:

Local sources reported today, Saturday, that the Houthi group abducted seven young men from the Bidbida district, west of Marib governorate, after they participated in popular events to celebrate the 63rd anniversary of the Glorious September 26 Revolution.

According to the sources, the abducted youths had shown their joy for the national occasion by raising the flags of the Republic of Yemen, lighting the Revolution Torch, and setting off firecrackers in one of the district’s villages.

Houthi elements raided the young men and took them to an unknown location, marking a new escalation in the group’s policies of repression in areas under its control, where dozens of youths have been arrested in recent days.

The wave of kidnappings across most areas under the group’s control confirms the Houthis’ continuation of a policy of systematic restriction of public freedoms and an attempt to erase the national and republican identity in the areas they control, especially regarding symbolic celebrations of great national significance like the September 26 and October 14 Revolutions (the former of which overthrew the Imamate).
