Hadhramaut University Faculty Union Threatens Escalation Over Salary Delays

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The unions of faculty members and staff at Hadhramaut University issued a joint statement in which they welcomed the economic and financial measures adopted by the government but, at the same time, sent an urgent message to the chairman and members of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, demanding the swift disbursement of overdue salaries for July, August, and September 2025.
The statement, released on Wednesday, read:
“We demand that you expedite payment and commit to providing all other outstanding entitlements. We also stress the importance of paying upcoming salaries regularly, enabling university affiliates to meet their family and living obligations and to carry out their academic and professional duties amid the difficult economic conditions.”
The unions warned of “taking escalatory union measures” if the salary delays persist, holding the concerned authorities “responsible for any escalatory actions that may affect the educational process at Hadhramaut University.”
The two unions also expressed solidarity with “all legitimate union escalatory steps, both legal and constitutional,” currently taking place in various governorates.
The statement concluded by affirming the right to escalation in order to secure their rights, placing responsibility on the authorities for any repercussions on the educational process.
