Al-Alimi Arrives in New York to Attend United Nations Meetings

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, arrived in New York on Monday to participate in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
President Al-Alimi is scheduled to deliver Yemen’s address before world leaders and representatives of member states, covering the latest domestic and regional developments as well as the international support required for the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government.
He will also present the Council’s vision for achieving a just and comprehensive peace, along with ways to confront shared threats—foremost among them the violations of the Iran-backed Houthi militias and their repercussions on international peace and security.
On the sidelines of the UN meetings, the Chairman and members of the Council will discuss a number of humanitarian and economic issues, particularly the dangers of the continued flow of Iranian weapons and the growing terrorist activities of the Houthi militias and their allied organizations.
Al-Alimi will also hold bilateral meetings with several heads of delegations to discuss bilateral relations and issues of mutual concern.
The Yemeni delegation was received upon arrival by Yemen’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Saadi, and Yemen’s Deputy Ambassador to the US, Imad Bamutraf.
