Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi on Thursday directed security and military agencies in Taiz Governorate to take urgent measures to pursue the criminal elements involved in the assassination of Aftehan Al-Mashhary, Director of the Cleanliness and Improvement Fund in the governorate, and to swiftly bring them to trial so they receive their just and deterrent punishment.
This came during phone calls President Al-Alimi held with Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan and several local, security, and military leaders, in which he was briefed on the latest security developments and terrorist threats targeting the stability and public peace of the governorate.
On behalf of himself, the Council members, and the government, the President expressed his deepest condolences and sympathy to the family of the martyr Al-Mashhary, praising her competence and dedication to public service.
Al-Alimi affirmed the leadership’s commitment to strengthening security measures to combat terrorism in all its forms, commending the people of Taiz and their heroic stances alongside the armed forces, security, and popular resistance in confronting the Houthi militias and allied criminal organizations.
Earlier this morning, the city of Taiz witnessed a horrific incident that claimed the life of a prominent government official. Aftehan Al-Mashhary, Director of the Cleanliness and Improvement Fund, was subjected to a criminal attack that shocked both officials and the public.
Local sources reported that Al-Mashhary came under heavy gunfire from unidentified armed men, with the attackers unloading nearly twenty bullets into her head in the Sinan Roundabout area, under mysterious circumstances that raise many questions.
Aftehan Al-Mashhary served as the General Director of the Cleanliness and Improvement Fund and was one of the leading female figures in municipal work in the governorate. She was known for her direct field follow-up of cleaning efforts despite ongoing security challenges.
