The city of Taiz, Yemen, witnessed a horrific incident that claimed the life of a prominent government official. Aftehan Al-Mashhary, Director of the Cleanliness and Improvement Fund in the governorate, was subjected to a criminal attack that sparked widespread shock among both officials and the public.
Local sources reported that Al-Mashhary came under heavy gunfire from unidentified armed men, with the attackers unloading nearly twenty bullets into the victim’s head in the Sinan Roundabout area under mysterious circumstances that raise many questions.
The victim sustained severe head injuries and her body was transferred to Al-Thawra General Hospital, leaving medical staff in shock. No group has claimed responsibility for the incident as of the time this report was published.
Aftehan Al-Mashhary served as the General Director of the Cleanliness and Improvement Fund and was one of the leading female figures in municipal work in the governorate. She was well-known for her direct field follow-up of cleaning efforts despite the security challenges.
