Yemeni Islah Party Official: Our Relations with Gulf States are Responsible, Constitutional, and Legal

Yemen Monitor/Marib/Exclusive:

Shaikhan Al-Dubaie, Assistant Secretary-General of the Yemeni Islah Party, confirmed that the party’s president, Mohammed Al-Yadumi, has put forward an initiative calling on Yemen’s political forces to adopt a code of political honor. This pact would ensure that the country is governed on a basis of partnership and consensus “after the Houthis are overthrown.”

In an interview with Al-Jazeera Net, Al-Dubaie stated that the initiative aims to address the root causes of Yemen’s crises, such as the monopolization of power, and to ensure a united front that prevents a return to conflict. He noted that the extent to which this initiative has been accepted by various parties, including members of the Presidential Leadership Council, has not yet been officially announced.

Regarding Islah’s relations with Gulf countries, Al-Dubaie explained that the party approaches them with a sense of responsible openness, committed to the constitution and law. He considers these relations a strategic dimension that serves Yemen’s highest interests. He added that the party sees the necessity of cooperating with Gulf nations on a shared foundation of supporting the legitimate government, restoring the state, and ending the Houthi coup.

Al-Dubaie stressed that peace remains the most important constant in the Islah Party’s political approach. He affirmed that the party supports a return to the political process as the solution, emphasizing that any settlement must be fair and guarantee the restoration of the state’s sovereignty and unity.

The party also welcomed the efforts led by the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, and expressed its positive engagement with the proposed roadmap, provided that it achieves genuine national partnership and does not consolidate the reality of force or exclusion.

On the issue of southern Yemen’s secession projects promoted by the Southern Transitional Council, Al-Dubaie affirmed that the party’s position is a steadfast commitment to the Yemeni people and the pursuit of their rights within the framework of a national state. He added that historical experience shows Yemenis become vulnerable to political and livelihood violations under any division, making Yemen’s unity an irreversible choice for the party.

Al-Dubaie confirmed that Islah is in constant contact with regional and international actors, including the United States, which reflects its commitment to peaceful and diplomatic solutions and its readiness to contribute to any fair and sustainable political settlement.

Regarding the party’s future, Al-Dubaie stated that Islah sees its role in the political scene only as serving the country. He noted that the party seeks to empower youth and integrate them into its leadership structures to ensure its continuity and ability to face future challenges.
