A Mother of Detainee Dies After 9 Years of Deprivation

Yemen Monitor / Sana’a:

The Association of Mothers of Abductees announced on Tuesday the death of the mother of detainee Nabil Rashid Al-Ansi, who has been held in Houthi prisons since September 9, 2016, inside the Security and Intelligence Detention Center in Sana’a. She passed away without ever being able to see her son or check on his condition throughout his years of imprisonment.

In a statement, the association said the deceased departed “enduring the pain of loss and her son’s absence behind bars — a scene that reflects the immense suffering endured by families of abductees amid the continuation of kidnappings and enforced disappearances.” It stressed that the tragedy of detainees and their families “has become unbearable,” especially in the absence of justice or any genuine breakthrough in this file.

The association renewed its call for the release of all abductees and forcibly disappeared persons held by all parties “without conditions or restrictions,” urging an end to the suffering of families who have paid a heavy price due to the deprivation of their loved ones.
