Yemenia Airways announced that starting Wednesday, it will begin selling flight tickets in the local currency (Yemeni Rial), in implementation of a Cabinet decision prohibiting transactions in foreign currencies inside the country.
The company confirmed that ticket pricing will be set in Yemeni Rials according to the official exchange rate approved by the Central Bank, ensuring fairness and transparency while preventing unjustified discrepancies or exploitation of travelers.
An official source at Yemenia explained that the airline has completed all necessary technical and administrative preparations to implement the decision, noting that the step aims to facilitate citizen transactions, ease their financial burdens, and strengthen confidence in the national currency.
The source stressed that all Yemenia offices and agents inside the country will comply with the new payment mechanism starting from the specified date.
