On Sixth Day of Protests, Angry Demonstration in Hadramawt Over Service Collapse

Yemen Monitor – Newsroom:

Dozens of residents from Old Fuwwah in Hadramawt staged an angry protest after Friday prayers, as part of a growing wave of demonstrations sweeping through Yemeni cities in recent days. Protesters voiced outrage over deteriorating living conditions and the collapse of basic services—particularly electricity and water.

Participants held signs demanding improved public services and real security for citizens, criticizing what they described as “superficial security that protects appearances but not people.” They declared their suffering had exceeded the limits of endurance.

During the protest, the neighborhood elder delivered a direct message to local security forces, stating:
“We want security that protects empty stomachs and restores electricity and water—not one that silences the people. Hadramawt will not remain silent!”

This demonstration marked the sixth consecutive day of public unrest, which began Wednesday evening across various areas in Hadramawt and Aden, fueled by public frustration over the severe breakdown in essential services.

Some protest sites have witnessed roadblocks, clashes, and sporadic gunfire, intensifying tensions. Warnings continue to grow that the situation may spiral out of control if authorities do not respond swiftly to the protesters’ demands.
