Presidential Leadership Council Member Describes Houthi Crime Against Sheikh Hantous as “Heinous”

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, described the crime committed by the Houthi militia against Sheikh Saleh Hantous as a “heinous crime.”

In a tweet on the “X” platform, Al-Alimi explained that this crime reveals the extent of the terror the militia is experiencing in the face of the Yemeni people’s refusal to submit and surrender.

He noted that the hysterical state displayed by the militia, by besieging and shelling the home of an unarmed man, reflects the fragility of a group that relies on oppression.

He affirmed that recent Houthi practices, including the pursuit and arrest of dozens of Yemenis, express a state of retaliation against all who reject their oppressive and sectarian project.

Al-Alimi praised Sheikh Hantous, who bravely faced death despite his age, considering him a symbol of defiance and steadfastness.

Al-Alimi invoked Hantous’s bravery, saying: “May God have mercy on Sheikh Saleh Hantous and his brave family, the teacher who lived free and died a hero.”

It’s worth noting that Sheikh Saleh Hantous, a prominent Quran teacher in Reimah Governorate, was martyred after the Houthi militia besieged him in his home in Al-Salafia district and shelled it with RPGs, leading to his injury and the martyrdom of some of his family members, serious injuries to his wife, and the arrest of one of his sons.

The incident had previously shown Hantous’s courage; he had written his will beforehand after receiving threats, but chose to confront them until the very end.
