Saudi Arabia Reaffirms Commitment to Supporting Peace in Yemen
Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan reaffirmed his country’s commitment to continuing support for a political solution in Yemen and working to restore security and stability to the country. He reiterated the Kingdom’s initiative to end the Yemeni war.
This came during his speech at the opening session of the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states, held in Istanbul, Turkey, as reported by the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
“The Kingdom continues to support efforts to resolve the crisis in Yemen and seeks to restore peace, security, and stability there,” said Prince Faisal bin Farhan, stressing the importance of reaching a comprehensive political solution that ends the suffering of the Yemeni people.
These statements come amid a de-escalation that Yemen has witnessed since April 2022, following years of continuous war since 2014 between government forces and the Iran-backed Houthi group, which still controls the capital Sana’a and several governorates.
