Yemeni Government Directs Start of Field Survey for “Musanada” Cash Program

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

Yemeni Prime Minister, Salem Saleh bin Breik, has directed the relevant ministries and entities to begin implementing the field survey for the “Musanada” social support program. This program is part of an unconditional cash transfer project funded by the World Bank and implemented by UNICEF.

This directive came during a meeting held today, Thursday, with the participation of officials from the Ministries of Social Affairs and Labor, and Planning and International Cooperation, alongside leaders from the Social Development Fund and the Social Welfare Fund. The meeting was dedicated to discussing the final arrangements for launching the program.

The “Musanada” program aims to provide direct cash support to approximately 500,000 vulnerable Yemeni families, based on new criteria that consider the needs of populations affected by displacement and demographic changes in various regions.

The meeting also discussed mechanisms to accelerate project implementation and enhance coordination with UNICEF to ensure comprehensive geographical coverage and the quality of beneficiary groups.

During the meeting, Bin Breik affirmed that the government is ready to begin the field survey phase, calling for the distribution of UN and international aid according to fair criteria and population density.
