Yemeni Coast Guard Warns Against Sea Travel and Journeys to Socotra

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The Coast Guard forces in Al-Mahra governorate (eastern Yemen) issued an urgent warning on Wednesday to citizens and fishermen, advising them to avoid venturing into the sea or traveling to the Socotra Archipelago in the coming days. This warning comes due to adverse weather conditions and the increased risks to maritime navigation.

A statement from the Coast Guard explained that the sea is experiencing severe disturbances due to seasonal climate fluctuations accompanied by strong winds. This significantly raises the likelihood of drowning incidents or boat capsizes, especially during the current wind season.

Maritime authorities in Al-Mahra urged all citizens to be aware and strictly adhere to official instructions, considering the safety of lives a collective responsibility that does not tolerate complacency or risk-taking.

Their statement read: “Life is priceless, and it’s not worth any adventure that could lead to the loss of a dear life.”

The Coast Guard affirmed that it is closely monitoring weather developments through relevant authorities and will continue to issue necessary updates and warnings to ensure everyone’s safety. They cautioned against ignoring these instructions, which could lead to tragic outcomes.
