Al-Alimi Receives Credentials of Vatican Ambassador to Yemen

Yemeni President Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today at the Maashiq Palace in the interim capital, Aden, the credentials of Archbishop Christophe Zakhia El-Kassis as the new Apostolic Nuncio (Ambassador) of the Vatican to Yemen.

During the meeting, Ambassador El-Kassis conveyed greetings from Pope Leo XIV to the President and members of the Presidential Council, along with the Pope’s wishes for peace, security, and stability in Yemen, according to Yemen’s official news agency.

President Al-Alimi welcomed the new ambassador and affirmed the Council’s readiness to provide all necessary support to enable him to carry out his duties and to strengthen bilateral relations between Yemen and the Vatican.

He also praised the Vatican’s supportive stance on just causes, its efforts to promote the values of peaceful coexistence and rejection of violence and extremism, as well as its vital role in fostering dialogue among peoples and civilizations.
