Civilian Killed by Houthi Sniper in Marakha Al-Ulya, Shabwah, Eastern Yemen

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
Police in the Marakha Al-Ulya district of Shabwah governorate announced on Friday the killing of a citizen in a new crime attributed to Houthi militants. The victim was subjected to direct gunfire while herding sheep on the outskirts of the district.
According to the Security Media Department of the Yemeni Ministry of Interior, the citizen, Saleh Ahmed Ali Al-Souri, 47, was killed after being struck by a bullet to the right side of his body, lodging under his armpit. The shot was fired by a Houthi sniper positioned in the highlands overlooking the area.
Local police described the incident as a “terrorist crime added to the militia’s record of violating civilian rights and directly targeting them.” They affirmed that the victim was unarmed and engaged in a purely civilian activity at the time of the crime.
Local security authorities condemned the crime, stating that it comes within the context of “systematic violations practiced by the Houthi militias against unarmed civilians in areas near the front lines.” They called on the international community to take a firm stance against what they described as “crimes against humanity being committed against civilians.”
