Yemen Calls for Halting Iranian Interventions and Enforcing the Arms Embargo on Houthis

Yemen Monitor – Newsroom:
The Yemeni government has renewed its call for the international community to take a firm stance against Iranian interventions in Yemen, demanding an end to Tehran’s support for the Houthis and the activation of the weapons embargo imposed on them.
This was stated in a speech by Yemen’s Ambassador to International Organizations in Vienna, Haitham Shuja’eddin, during the meetings of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Ambassador Shuja’eddin emphasized that Iran’s continued support for the Houthis with advanced weapons, including ballistic missiles and drones, contributes to the escalation of the conflict and undermines peace efforts in Yemen.
He pointed out that this support violates United Nations Security Council resolutions and leads to destabilizing security and stability in the region.
The ambassador urged the international community to strengthen the capabilities of the Yemeni government to protect international maritime routes, particularly in the Red Sea, from the increasing Houthi threats.
He also stressed the need for Iran to adhere to international resolutions related to its nuclear program and halt its interventions in the affairs of other countries, particularly Yemen.
