MASAM Project Clears 1,139 Mines in Yemen Within a Week

The MASAM project for clearing Yemeni lands of mines confirmed that it has continued its work in various regions of Yemen.

The project stated that during the first week of June 2025, its team successfully cleared 1,139 mines, including one anti-personnel mine, 56 anti-tank mines, 1,080 unexploded ordnance (UXO), and two improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

The project added that in Aden Governorate, the team successfully cleared 3 anti-tank mines and 1,016 unexploded ordnance. One improvised explosive device was also cleared in Al-Khawkhah district of Hodeidah Governorate.

Furthermore, in Lahj Governorate, 12 unexploded ordnance were cleared across several districts.

The team also cleared 53 anti-tank mines in Marib Governorate. In Shabwah Governorate, 17 unexploded ordnance were cleared in the districts of Usaylan and Bayhan.

In Taiz Governorate, the number of unexploded ordnance cleared reached 60, distributed across several districts.

This brings the total number of mines cleared since the project’s inception to 498,683 mines, which were planted throughout Yemen.
