Aden women protest against power outages and high prices, send a strong message to the government

Today, Saturday, a massive women’s protest took place in Al-Arood Square in Khor Maksar district in Aden, during which they raised their voices against the deterioration of basic services, especially the continuous power outages, the collapse of the currency to its lowest level in years, and the soaring prices that have exhausted citizens.
This protest came in response to calls by activists on social media, with dozens of women taking to the streets carrying banners that read: “No to darkness… No to hunger… No to currency collapse!”, expressing their anger at the deteriorating living conditions and holding the government and the Presidential Council fully responsible for the crisis.

One of the participants said, “We can no longer be patient… Electricity is cut off for days, prices rise every hour, and the government is absent!” while others stressed that this protest is the beginning of broader movements if the citizens’ demands are not met.
These protests come at a time when Aden is witnessing successive crises, with residents suffering from long hours of power outages and a dramatic rise in the prices of basic commodities, amidst the absence of any real solutions from the authorities.
It is noteworthy that this is not the first time that Aden women have taken to the streets to protest, but the situation this time has reached a breaking point, with increasing public discontent and the worsening daily suffering of families.
