Yemenia Airways Clarifies Details of “Amman – Sana’a” Flight and Affirms Commitment to Stranded Passengers

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

Yemenia Airways issued a clarification statement regarding passengers stranded at Amman International Airport, affirming that efforts are still ongoing to ensure their safe return to Yemen.

The statement explained that the company has successfully secured alternative destinations for most of the 185 passengers on the Amman-Sana’a flight, with the exception of only 11 passengers who remain in Amman, while others preferred to change their destinations to other countries according to their wishes.

Yemenia Airways pointed out that it has covered all accommodation costs for the stranded passengers throughout their stay, despite the exceptional circumstances and operational challenges it faces, especially after the severe damage its fleet suffered as a result of the targeting of Sana’a Airport.

The statement stressed that the company is “not legally or operationally obligated” to bear these costs, given that the reasons for this situation are “emergency and beyond its responsibility,” but it took this decision out of its “national and humanitarian responsibility” towards the passengers, especially Yemeni citizens.

Yemenia Airways concluded its statement by affirming its continued care for the remaining 11 passengers until their safe return, reiterating its commitment to the humanitarian principles that form the basis of its work.
