UN Welcomes Jordanian Initiative to Resume Flights Between Sana’a and Amman

The Office of the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Yemen welcomed, on Saturday, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan’s announcement to resume flights between Sana’a and Amman, considering the step an initiative that will expand civil air travel options for Yemenis.
The Office stated in a statement that the Jordanian initiative will contribute positively to enhancing the availability of civil air travel, which constituted one of the core principles stipulated by the UN truce announced in 2022.
It added that the Special Envoy continues his engagement with all parties to ensure that this step paves the way for broader understandings that preserve the gains of the truce and respond to the urgent and long-term priorities of the Yemeni people.
The statement emphasized that expanding civil flights represents an important measure to alleviate the suffering of Yemenis and support trust-building efforts between the parties.
