Yemeni President in Eid Speech: No Cause Takes Precedence Over the Battle to Restore the State and End the Houthi Coup
Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Chairman of Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, renewed his call for national unity and the rejection of division and discord, affirming that the battle to restore state institutions and end the coup of the Iran-backed Houthi militia will remain the central issue that takes precedence over all other causes and entitlements.
President Al-Alimi stated in a speech delivered to the Yemeni people on the occasion of Eid al-Adha—read on his behalf by the Minister of Endowments and Guidance, Turki Al-Wada’i—that the meanings of Eid, with its values of faith, sacrifice, and tolerance, require Yemenis to rise above wounds and bitterness, and to recall the shared history, identity, and common destiny that unite them.
The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council emphasized that homelands are not built on hatred, bigotry, or narrow projects, but on justice, love, solidarity, and faith in the people’s right to security, dignity, and peace. He called upon all national forces to unify their energies and capabilities, directing them toward the battle to restore the state and deter the destructive Iranian project.
President Al-Alimi, on behalf of himself, his fellow members of the Presidential Leadership Council, and the government, congratulated the Yemeni people and the heroes of the armed forces and security services on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. He prayed to God to bring this occasion back with security, stability, peace, and prosperity achieved for the Yemeni people after years of war and suffering.
He noted that Yemen continues to face immense challenges imposed by the war ignited by the Houthi militia, along with the resulting economic, livelihood, and service crises that have burdened citizens across various governorates.
The President stressed that the priority of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government will remain serving citizens, improving their living conditions, and strengthening the presence of state institutions, considering this the realistic path to building trust and achieving just and comprehensive peace based on national, regional, and international references.
Al-Alimi affirmed that the state is committed to implementing economic, service, and institutional reforms, foremost among them addressing the electricity crisis, ensuring regular salary payments, enhancing the stability of the national currency, combating terrorism, corruption, smuggling, and organized crime, and improving and utilizing public resources to alleviate the suffering of citizens.
The President described this economic and service battle as no less important than the national battle that Yemenis are waging to defend their future, their national identity, and their right to a dignified and secure life.
In another part of his speech, President Al-Alimi renewed his rejection of the priestly Imamate project, stressing that the Yemeni people will not accept the return of dynastic rule or turning back the wheel of history.
He also announced the state’s commitment to continuing to confront all forms of racial and dynastic discrimination and working to criminalize the ideas of “Al-Wilayah” (guardianship) and “divine selection,” considering these ideas contradictory to the Islamic religion, the constitution, and the human values upon which the modern Yemeni state was founded.
He affirmed that the battle against these ideas is not merely political but a defense of the very essence of Islam, which is based on justice, equality, human dignity, and the rejection of clericalism, arrogance, and discrimination.
The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the steadfastness of the armed forces, security services, and popular resistance, affirming that their sacrifices represent an extension of the struggle of the republican movement in defending the state, the republican system, and public liberties.
He also commended the efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in serving pilgrims, congratulating the Saudi leadership on the success of the Hajj season and praising the facilities provided to the Yemeni Hajj mission and the guests of God from around the world.
At the conclusion of his speech, President Al-Alimi prayed for the souls of the martyrs, wished the wounded a speedy recovery, and freedom for the kidnapped and detainees, asking God to make Eid al-Adha an occasion of goodness and peace for Yemen and the Arab and Islamic nations.
