The second consultative meeting of leaders from Yemen’s southern governorates was held in Riyadh as part of the ongoing arrangements for the South-South dialogue sponsored by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The meeting, sponsored by the Saudi Ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed bin Saeed Al Jaber, included several southern leaders from various governorates and political orientations. It discussed arrangements related to the preparation for the South-South Dialogue Conference under Saudi sponsorship, aiming to create suitable conditions for a comprehensive event that reflects diverse components and visions.
This gathering is part of a continuous series of consultative meetings with southern leaders to listen to perspectives regarding the dialogue process and to help formulate common approaches that enhance its chances of success.
Participants emphasized the importance of consolidating security and stability in the southern governorates as an essential prerequisite for creating the appropriate ground for the South-South Dialogue Conference, meeting the aspirations of the people of the south and establishing a phase based on consensus and partnership.
The meeting also touched upon the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s efforts in supporting the government and its role in developing and implementing service and development projects across various sectors to improve living conditions and enhance stability.
Attendees reaffirmed their appreciation for the Kingdom’s firm stance regarding the Southern Issue and its keenness to sponsor dialogue paths between various components to support reaching realistic and sustainable solutions.
