Houthis Threaten Military Escalation in Support of Hezbollah in Lebanon
Yemen Monitor / Sana’a / Exclusive:
The Houthi group hinted on Wednesday at the possibility of expanding its military operations against the Israeli occupation in support of Hezbollah in Lebanon, amid the ceasefire announced by Iran and the U.S., which Tel Aviv said does not include Lebanon.
Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of the group’s Supreme Political Council, said in a post on his X platform: “We will not accept the Israeli enemy entity violating any Arab or Muslim country,” in a clear reference to the major military escalation Lebanon is witnessing due to Israeli raids and operations.
The Israeli occupation launched over 100 airstrikes on Beirut on Wednesday, killing more than 100 civilians within minutes.
Al-Houthi explained that the group views the current Israeli movements as an attempt to implement a “terrorist plan” aimed at changing the face of the region, stressing that “Lebanon of resistance and steadfastness will not be left alone to face the entity,” in a direct hint at greater involvement by the group in the current confrontation within the framework of “unity of fronts.”
In a related context, the Houthi leader indicated that the group’s leader, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, will deliver a speech tomorrow, Thursday, describing it as carrying “the certain news” regarding the next steps. The group typically dedicates the movement leader’s Thursday speeches to reviewing developments in Red Sea confrontations and operations directed at occupied territories.
These statements come at a time of unprecedented tension in the region, as the group continues its missile and drone attacks on Israeli targets, declaring that the cessation of these operations is linked to ending attacks on Iran, Gaza, and Lebanon.
