Joint Gulf-Jordanian Statement Condemning Attacks by “Iranian Proxies” from Iraq on Regional States

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Six Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and Jordan, condemned on Wednesday the attacks launched by Iranian-aligned Iraqi factions against regional states, their vital facilities, and infrastructure.

In a joint statement, the six nations considered these attacks a grave violation of international laws and charters, and a flagrant breach of UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), which mandates that Iran immediately and unconditionally cease any attacks or threats against neighboring countries, including operations carried out by its proxies in the region.

While praising their fraternal relations with Iraq, the six countries called on Baghdad to urgently take the necessary measures to stop attacks originating from its territory, in order to preserve kinship ties and avoid further military escalation in the region.

The statement renewed the condemnation of these countries in the strongest terms for what it described as “blatant Iranian aggressions,” asserting that they represent a violation of state sovereignty, territorial integrity, international humanitarian law, and the UN Charter—whether carried out directly or through Tehran-backed armed factions.

Furthermore, the statement reaffirmed the inherent right of these countries to self-defense against criminal attacks, in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, which guarantees the right to individual and collective self-defense in the event of an armed attack.

The six nations also renewed their condemnation of destabilizing activities planned by pro-Iranian sleeper cells and organizations linked to “Hezbollah.” They praised the vigilance of the armed forces and security services in countering these attacks, uncovering terrorist plots, and arresting those involved, emphasizing the legitimacy of states taking all measures to preserve the security, stability, and sovereignty of their homelands.
