Storm Hits Displacement Camps In Al-Jawf, Eastern Yemen
Yemen Monitor /Newsroom:
On Wednesday evening, a thunderstorm accompanied by strong winds and heavy rainfall struck areas hosting displaced people in the Al-Rayyan area of Al-Jawf Governorate in northeastern Yemen, causing widespread damage to the camps, according to local sources.
The sources said that dozens of tents were completely or partially damaged, and some livestock—on which the displaced depend for their livelihoods—also died.
Those affected appealed to humanitarian and relief organizations to intervene quickly to provide emergency assistance and rehabilitate the damaged camps.
Several Yemeni governorates are currently experiencing a wave of heavy rains accompanied by severe storms, especially in the eastern regions (Hadramawt, Al-Mahra, Shabwa, Marib, and Al-Jawf), due to ongoing atmospheric instability affecting the country.
