Security Campaign Announces Arrest of “Criminal Cell” in Al-Mahrah

Security authorities in Al-Mahrah Governorate in eastern Yemen, with support from the Nation’s Shield Forces, announced the arrest of a criminal cell in Al-Ghaydah District involved in theft and drug trafficking.
A security source explained that the arrests came after several houses were raided based on precise information and investigations conducted by the Intelligence Department of the Criminal Investigation Administration in the governorate. The raids resulted in the arrest of six members of the cell involved in carrying out theft operations and distributing narcotic substances, according to the state news agency Saba.
The source added that stolen items belonging to citizens and some narcotic substances were seized, including crystal meth (locally known as “shabu”), as well as quantities of light and heavy ammunition found inside one of the houses that was raided.
The operation was carried out with the participation of counter-narcotics forces, special security forces, road security, facilities security, and Al-Ghaydah district security, in the presence of a member of the public prosecution.
The source noted that security forces faced resistance at some locations during the operation but were able to control the situation and complete the mission without any casualties or damage to property.
The source affirmed that security authorities will continue their efforts to pursue criminal elements and strengthen security and stability in Al-Mahrah Governorate, calling on citizens to cooperate with security agencies and report any suspicious activities.
