The Yemeni Coast Guard announced the seizure of a boat used for smuggling irregular migrants east of Mayun Island in the Bab al-Mandab area, carrying 47 migrants of Ethiopian nationality.
The Security Media of the Ministry of Interior explained that the detained migrants included 39 men and 8 women. The boat was intercepted by a naval patrol while moving through the area.
It noted that the competent authorities provided the necessary humanitarian assistance to the migrants, and the boat was impounded as legal proceedings began against those involved in the smuggling operation.
