Wounded Army Soldiers in Marib Begin Escalation, Hold First Protest March

Yemen Monitor / Marib / Exclusive:
Wounded soldiers of the Yemeni army in Marib province announced on Saturday the start of an escalation phase in protest of what they described as the government and the Presidential Leadership Council ignoring their demands. This comes after nearly half a month of their ongoing sit-in at the gate of the Social Welfare Department.
The wounded soldiers carried out a protest march, their first since the sit-in began, confirming that this step is part of their escalating actions to stop what they called continued government neglect of the wounded soldiers’ file.
The protesters raised banners demanding that the government and the Presidency address their demands, respond to their legitimate claims, and fulfill their duty to care for the wounded who gave their most precious possession in the battle under the army’s leadership.
The march, which started from the sit-in location in front of the Social Welfare Department building on Sana’a Street in central Marib city, paraded through the area. Participants chanted slogans denouncing government neglect and emphasizing the continuation of escalation until all their demands are met.
