Houthis Storm Headquarters of International Medical Corps in Sana’a and Confiscate Equipment

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Forces affiliated with the Houthi group stormed the headquarters of the International Medical Corps (IMC) on Al-Khamsin Street in the south of the capital Sana’a on Sunday, detaining a number of local employees, according to journalist Fares Al-Hemyari, Xinhua News Agency’s correspondent in Yemen.

According to informed sources, the intruders tampered with the contents of the headquarters and confiscated devices and equipment belonging to the organization, which is considered one of the most prominent humanitarian actors working in the health sector within Yemen for more than 14 years.

The International Medical Corps provides support to 20 health facilities in various areas, covering medical staff salaries and providing medicines and water, raising concerns that its activities may completely halt in Houthi-controlled areas following the incident.

The IMC is a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, US, and operates in more than 30 countries around the world to provide relief services and healthcare in conflict and disaster zones.
