Houthi Commander Defects… Yemeni Army Calls on Houthis to Lay Down Arms

Yemen Monitor/Marib/Exclusive:
The leadership of the Ministry of Defense and the Presidency of the General Staff of the internationally recognized Yemeni government renewed, on Tuesday, the call directed to the fighters of the Houthi group, urging them to lay down their weapons and avoid involvement in the “terrorist crimes” being committed against the Yemeni people.
This call was made by the official spokesman for the Yemeni Army, Brigadier General Abdo Abdullah Mujali, during a press conference held in Marib Governorate, on the occasion of receiving Brigadier General Salah Al-Salahi, who was leading the so-called “10th Samad Brigade” affiliated with the Iran-backed Houthi group and who recently announced his return to the “ranks of legitimacy and the republic.”
Brigadier General Majili confirmed that “the government’s doors are open” to anyone who decides to “return to the right path,” leave the “ranks of the militias,” and distance themselves from the “criminal acts and grave violations” committed against the people of Yemen.
For his part, the defected Brigadier General Salah Al-Salahi directed a direct call to all elements of the “Houthi militias” to return to the “embrace of the homeland and the republic,” to stop fighting, and not to throw themselves into the “furnace of the militia” which commits the most heinous crimes against the people and areas, and seeks to “booby-trap generations and spread poisonous ideas.”
Al-Salahi revealed the “racist and discriminatory practices” within the ranks of the Houthis, pointing out that the group “considers Yemenis merely as death fodder in its wars,” and does not trust those who work with it no matter how much obedience and loyalty they show. He called on everyone to realize the “terrorist and destructive acts, the killing of women and children, the sowing of feuds, and the hatred and revenge” carried out by the militias against all Yemenis.
