Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Officially Withdraws from Shabwah Governorate After Four Years of Humanitarian Work

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has concluded its health projects in the Shabwah governorate, handing over all its activities at the Ataq Hospital and the health care centers in Bayhan and Usaylan to the Yemeni Ministry of Health on September 30, 2025, in accordance with the pre-determined timeline.

Since the project’s launch, the organization had committed to remaining in the area for only four years, working in close cooperation with the local Ministry of Health.

During this period, MSF actively contributed to improving pediatric care services and enhancing emergency medical capacities in the governorate.

The organization expressed its gratitude to the Minister of Health, the local authorities, as well as colleagues and the community in Shabwah, for the constructive cooperation over the past years.

MSF emphasized that its withdrawal from the governorate does not signal a retreat from its commitments to its employees, stressing that all agreed-upon contractual obligations will be completed.
