UN Envoy Briefs Security Council on Developments in Yemeni Crisis

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, delivered a comprehensive briefing to the UN Security Council today on the latest developments in Yemen. The session, which was announced by the envoy’s office, was held at 5 p.m. Yemen time.

The briefing comes amid a persistent armed conflict and a notable deterioration of the humanitarian situation. Millions of Yemenis are suffering from widespread displacement and a severe lack of food and basic services, which is increasing the population’s suffering and threatening the country’s stability.

Grundberg stated that international community efforts remain focused on reviving the peace process and advancing a comprehensive political settlement, despite major challenges posed by regional and local conflicts that hinder the achievement of sustainable solutions.

UN reports indicate that the situation in Yemen requires urgent intervention and increased international cooperation to support civilians and end the protracted conflict.
