Houthi Drone Closes Airspace Over Israel’s Ramon Airport in Second Attack Within a Week
Yemen Monitor – Newsroom:
Israel shut down the airspace around Ramon Airport in the south on Sunday following a drone attack it said was launched from Yemen—the second such strike in a week.
In a statement, the Israeli army said: “Sirens were activated over the infiltration of a hostile (drone) in the Be’er Ora area in the Arava Valley. Details are under review.”
The Israel Hayom reported that sirens went off in the Ramon Airport area, north of Eilat, after the drone’s infiltration. Meanwhile, Israel’s Channel 12 said arrivals and departures at the airport were suspended until further notice.
The Houthis claimed responsibility for the latest attack, saying it was part of their campaign of solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza against what they described as “genocide by Israel.” The group has also targeted vessels linked to or heading toward Israel.
The Israel Defense Forces on Wednesday struck Houthi targets in Sanaa and Al Jawf in Yemen. Among the assets hit were the Houthis’ Military Public Relations Headquarters and a fuel storage facility,” the military said.
