The local authority in Shabwa governorate has unveiled an ambitious plan to establish three power plants running on natural gas, in a step aimed at achieving energy self-sufficiency and ending the population’s years-long suffering from frequent power outages.
Governor Awad Mohammed bin Al-Wazir, speaking during the “Special Interview” program on Aden TV, announced that the new projects will be built in strategic locations, including Al-Aqla in Armaa district, Asilan, and Balhaf in Rudum district. He noted that these plants will help meet the growing demand for electricity and ensure stable service in those areas.
Bin Al-Wazir stressed that strengthening the energy sector is a top priority within the governorate’s development strategy, considering these power plants a cornerstone for supporting service and economic sectors, and achieving sustainable development.
He pointed out that the projects come within the framework of optimally utilizing local resources and halting current waste, by transforming the governorate’s available gas wealth into productive projects that serve the community and reduce dependence on traditional energy sources.
