STC Leader in Hadhramaut Resigns in Protest of “Racism”

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Saeed Omar Ba’ajaj submitted his resignation on Sunday evening from all his positions within the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Mukalla district of Hadhramaut governorate.

Ba’ajaj’s resignation was sent in an official letter addressed to the Council’s chairman and members of the executive body.

In his letter, he announced his resignation as director of the cultural administration and his withdrawal from membership in both the STC and the executive body.

Ba’ajaj attributed his resignation to work pressures and an unhealthy environment within the Council.

He noted that “racism” was one of the most prominent reasons that led him to make this decision.

Observers believe that this resignation could open the door to questions about the work environment within the Council.

This move is expected to prompt calls for a review of human resources policies and anti-discrimination efforts within the institution.

As of the time of publication, no official comment on the resignation has been issued by the leadership of the STC in Mukalla district.
